Good to know

The original font is kept when it can bePDFs only store the letters they use. If you type a letter the document never had, that line switches to the closest standard font so it still looks clean.
Longer text rewrapsIf your new text needs more lines, the paragraph wraps at its original width and the content below moves down so nothing overlaps.
Scanned or locked textSome PDFs hide their letters, for example tax portal receipts. The editor reads those lines from the image, so you can still change them.
Change font, size or colourWhile a paragraph is open, pick a font, a size or a colour in the toolbar and it applies to that paragraph.

Questions people ask

Can I edit the text of any PDF?

Most PDFs, yes. Text made by Word, Google Docs, browsers and accounting software can be changed directly. Scans have no real text, so you type over them or use whiteout.

Will the edited text look the same as before?

When the letters you type exist in the document's font, the change uses that exact font. Otherwise the closest standard font is used for that line.

Does editing text leave the old words underneath?

No. On normal PDFs the old words are replaced in the file. Only a few unusual files need the old line covered, and the editor tells you when it does that.

Can I edit Arabic or Chinese text?

Yes. Install the free language pack from Languages to keep those scripts as real, searchable text.
