How to white out a PDF
- Choose your PDF and click Whiteout.
- Drag over the area to cover. Resize the box with its corner.
- Click Text and type the new words on top.
- Download the PDF.
Good to know
A white box hides, it does not deleteThe original words are still in the file under the box, and someone could copy them out. To remove sensitive text for good, use Delete text instead.
Best for scansScanned pages are pictures, so a white box and new text is the cleanest way to change them.
Match the backgroundOn coloured backgrounds, change the box colour so the patch does not show.
Flatten for a cleaner fileTick Flatten on download if the PDF also has form fields you have filled.

Is whiteout safe for confidential information?
No. It only covers the text. Use Delete text in Edit and move text to remove words from the file.
How do I white out on a scanned document?
Click Whiteout, drag over the area, then use Text to write the replacement.
Can I undo a whiteout?
