Common mistakes to avoid

  • Posting the form to Inland Revenue. It goes to your employer.
  • Leaving out your IRD number. The form says you must provide your IRD number, name and address.
  • Not ticking a rate and expecting the old rate. If no rate is chosen, 3.5% is deducted.
  • Forgetting to show a savings suspension notice. Without it your employer will start deductions.
  • Opting in at 65 or over without reading the note. The form says if you opt in, you cannot opt out.
  • Under 18s trying to join through their employer. They join through a scheme provider.
