Common mistakes to avoid
- Using TR1 for a company. Companies use Form TR2.
- Using TR1 when you only need Income Tax registration. The form points individuals to the eRegistration service in myAccount.
- Using TR1 as an agent for a client. The form says agents must apply through ROS.
- Describing the business in general terms like 'consultant' or 'shopkeeper'. The form asks for a precise description, for example 'clothing manufacturer'.
- Giving a tax adviser's or accountant's address as the business address. The form says this is not acceptable.

- Not signing the declaration on page 7.
