Common mistakes to avoid
- Using Form 12 when you are a chargeable person. The form says you must file a Form 11 if your non-PAYE income reaches the limits in its notes.
- Writing amounts with a euro symbol or cents where .00 is shown. The form asks for whole euro and no euro symbol.
- Entering dates in the wrong format. The form asks for DD/MM/YYYY.
- Filling in panels that do not apply. The form says to leave them blank.
- Not signing the declaration on page 1.
- Leaving out bank details or giving an outdated IBAN, which can delay a refund.
- For a non-assessable spouse or civil partner electing to be the assessable one, not including the letter the form asks for.
